  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Job title - Assistant Tax Advisor Daily tasks - Provide clients with the best tax advice in relation to asset managers, VAT clients, business structuring and compliance work. I interact with a variety of people around the business, ranging from Partners to first year intake. I am able to speak to clients and help them directly.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently studying towards an ACA qualification and having time in the office is a great way to expose myself and develop new skill such as client speaking skills, analytical and problem solving skills as clients always have different issues that need addressing. We also have internal training to aid our development and provide us with relevant topical news.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, the structure is very flexible and planned out. The various teams you work with are great and always provide help where needed. The culture pushes the teams to learn, develop, grow, communicate with other teams to help provide the best client service. This beats my expectations.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I believe I feel very valuable to the firm. the work we do is very client related and feels as though it makes a difference to the clients and the firm. My managers recognise this and use this to motivate us to produce the best client service. I have been given feedback commenting on how valuable the work I have done is.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme definitely provides a lot of support through training, counsellors, buddys, managers and so on. There is a huge network and vast amount of resources available to help everyone.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive as much support as we need, there is always someone to speak to and appeal to. Counsellors especially, are very open and understanding of any issues we may have. I feel I can speak to many people about any issues I am having and they will be willing to help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The teams to support us are very helpful and polite, they really do feel like they are on our side and go out of their way to do more. They are available quite a lot and reply fast.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I believe the salary is sufficient especially if you jus came out of college, however the benefits could be better and the website could be formatted in a way that is easier for everyone to use, (i.e. more user friendly)

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company promotes events outside of work, just recently we had a trek to a mountain, there are many volunteer works going on and events / classes.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • EY is a very great and balanced experience if you are looking for a good place to work. In terms of career progression you control your future and can push yourself to do as much as you want. EY supports this.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Please be yourself and don't be nervous. Prepare as you would prepare for an exam, EY wants to employ the best! Always be positive and look forward to new opportunities.
