  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt many new practical skills as well as developed my knowledge greatly in plumbing, heating, electrical work, construction and general maintenance etc. I had some knowledge before of plumbing but now I am confident when working with hot and cold supplies, waste, domestic appliances, commercial appliances and a range of plumbing tools and products. I have also developed my social skills and confidence when working with other plumbers and the general public.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme I would rate it 8 out of 10. I like the team I work with as well as the managers. I also like the values of the company and the culture that surrounds it I have been made welcome and there is a friendly atmosphere. It has met my expectations well and I have been given adequate training and support when needed. Also I am able to sometimes work independently and with my own initiative which is another great aspect of the apprenticeship.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Pimlico Plumbers?
  • I do feel valued by Pimlico Plumbers, as said before I can approach managers and ask for support if I need it and I have also been recognised when I have achieved something myself. So I definitely feel valued by the company and there is a good merit system in Pimlico Plumbers which helps young people get recognised. I hope to be valued more as I continue my time in my apprenticeship.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think it is very well structured and there are 6 modules each year which gives me a clear idea of what to expect next and how much is left to complete. I enjoyed my induction and training both which I think were very important and I have enough free time for studying when home and not at the work place etc. I like the tea I work with as it is well balanced and everybody is at a similar level which makes it easier going forward and learning more. I would rate it 9 out of 10.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I definitely receive enough support from my training provider and I feel that the people are very approachable and good when it comes to extra support and guidance. The problems I have encountered have been solved and managed quite quickly. I think there is a good attitude and it is not hard to ask for more support and it is not frowned upon. I would recommend my tutor to anybody who is interested in plumbing or heating. Good knowledge and guidance techniques as well.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Very good support and good communication from managers and hr team. Any kind of problems I have had have been resolved quickly or in the same week and I have had access to a member of the support staff every day that I have been in training. There is a good friendly helpful attitude and nobody looks down at any one or has any problems with helping other people as everybody learns at different speeds. I feel happy about the level of support.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is probably the average and while it is not the best it does cover my living costs travel costs and daily costs. I would like it to be more but obviously once I am qualified my salary will rise so I have to look forward to that. As for now I can help keep my costs down by living at home and living economically but my salary could be better. It has stayed the same as it was last year but as said before in the future it will rise.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there are a lot of different events that this apprenticeship offers such as company events and activities. There was christmas dinner in December and there are events planned for this summer to help with team bonding and working together. Last year there was paint balling and also an organised friendly football match. I like to keep busy as much as possible with sports and leisure and I play football outside of work so when I'm not working that's what I do as well as take part in things in the local community and with friends.

  • 9. Would you recommend Pimlico Plumbers to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend Pimlico Plumbers to a friend or somebody else my age looking for a career in plumbing. They have been friendly and helpful from the start and gave me the skills of the trade to allow me to start my own career as a plumber. I have been given guidance and strong support when needed and not had any problems in my apprenticeship. The work is varied day to day and you will meet lots of good people in the trade that can help you more than you expect.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pimlico Plumbers?
  • The application process was efficient and quite fast for me. I had an interview about a week later. The training process was very helpful for me and I enjoyed it very much it lasted for 2 weeks and then we went on to work days. There are a lot of apprenticeships out there but for me Pimlico Plumbers was the number one choice where they have a good reputation and have a well known brand name. There has been a lot of work and social opportunities for me and I am grateful for that so I would advise others to look into Pimlico Plumbers and apply as there is a lot to gain.
