Walking dogs for Rescue Remedies at their different shelters
Developed existing skills with looking after dogs and walking for them, feeding them treats, practising safe walking
It's very enjoyable as I love dogs and want to care for them as much as possible, and help out shelters who have little help.
Rescue Remedies are a great organisation and made me feel at home and answered any questions I would have
As it is a small organisation the process of walking dogs is well organised but could have some improvement
I had my first walking session with a more experienced walker who showed me the ropes, and everytime I walk a dog the worker will explain to me any special requirements they may have
Some support but once you begin the shelter work their support is at times obsolete
This is volunteer work so I am not paid and do pay for travel to get there
This has helped me build a portfolio with walking dogs so that I can do pet sitting on websites in between my time at uni, which is a massive help
Yes
The organisation is friendly and it's a relaxing way to help out those more in need than yourself
Just answer everything honestly, they are always looking for volunteers so they won't turn you away just because you don't have much experience
