  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • So as a Retail Advisor, I would be sorting and restocking shelves, talking to customers and making sure the floors were clean and had no obstructions. I would often talk to the supervisor to make sure I was doing my job well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I felt that when I worked for them, I found it easier to talk to customers and others. My communication skills got a lot better. I also found out what a retail job involved and all the other roles within the industry.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I found that the team I worked with could've been a bit more enthusiastic but they were lovely and great to work with. The company as a whole was very good as they all knew what they were on about. It was very fun.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Boots?
  • I felt that I was valued at my time at Boots. I thought that every member of staff I worked with were very supportive. I also felt like I always had something to do and I wasn't ever distracted in my work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I was put through training on my first day where I was put in a room with a computer on my own for an hour and a half which I found quite intimidating. Other than that, I felt it was a very well structured programme

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Whenever I had a problem, some members of staff were very supportive and the manager/supervisor also were supportive. Some others weren't as nice about things and didn't really tell me what I needed to do

    8/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I got a lot of support from the employer as I was always checked on and was always on hand to help me out with anything. Hours were compromised with me as well to work around other commitments

    8/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was quite fair although I hoped it could've been a bit higher as it was hard to live off at times. Location was never a problem for me as I only lived a 15min drive away and my parents would drop me off.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I didn't feel like a lot went on outside of work in relation to the work. When I wasn't at work, I was studying another course along side. I also dance which is one of my biggest passions and I always had that in the evenings.

    6/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Boots to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Staff were very friendly and you are never completely left out. I always felt needed and was never wondering what to do. The salary isn't too bad. The supervisor isn't that scary and approachable.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boots?
  • Go in with confidence and make yourself feel comfortable in the environment. I always find that if I feel like I've been there a long time, I find it easier in the interview. Be prepared for a lot of stocking shelves!
