  • My role was to be a customer service assistant. This involved helping customers with finding items, handing cash on the checkouts and merchandising stock.

  • I learnt the skills of organisation and developed my customer service skills to always be polite and friendly. I also learnt how the tills operate as well as other technology.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed interacting with customers as well as meeting new individuals in the workplace. I was made to feel very welcome and part of the team.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Tesco?
  • Very valued. They asked for my opinion in things and took them on board. They offered me many different experiences while there and was never made to feel like I was in the way.

  • It was well organised with the different departments aware of me coming and made arrangements for me to have the best experience possible at tesco.

  • Lots. They helped me whenever I had any questions and showed me anything I wanted to know.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots. They showed me how to use the technology at the workplace as well as where to have lunch and many other aspects of the job. They also answered any questions I had.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I did not get paid for this placement and therefore I had more outgoings in petrol and travel costs. However gained experience in customer service.

  • Yes tesco work with the wider community and always have other opportunities available.

  • Yes

  • They were very supportive and took their time to train me correctly and show me all aspects of the job.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tesco?
  • Show willingness and a want to be there. Try to gain lots of experience in all the different departments tesco offers.
