During my time at Aitken Turnbull Architecture, I shadowed other qualified Architects carrying out computer aided design and other tasks in the workplace. I also assisted when visiting clients and reviewing progress of current builds, broadening my understanding of all aspects of the profession.
I have both learnt new skills and developed on existing ones. I had a simple understanding of computer aided design which was developed strongly during my time there. I also learnt about dealings between clients which I hadn't had experience of before.
The programme was enjoyable as I learnt a lot whilst doing things that I enjoy.
I feel valued as the staff showed interest in me and were happy to help or explain things to me
I did something new and different every day so was well organised
They were encouraging to me and made me feel like I was important to them and they wanted to help me progress towards my potential​ career. In terms of money, it was unpaid work experience.

There are various opportunities, just not many in the specific field I want to do so it's hard to get relevant experience
