  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work as a Recruitment Resourcer for BPS World. This position embodies both Resourcing for candidate's CVs, and also taking them through the end to end recruitment process. Firstly I am given a role from one of our Clients then, I will either advertise or headhunt for the position through various websites including Linked In. Following on from this I will collate the suitable candidates together and talk to them about their wants, aspirations and current situation. If they are suitable, I will then send their profile to the client, and arrange any interviews following on from this. If the candidate is offered a role, I get the honor of offering them directly and making their career aspirations come true!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Well, one of the main points of my apprenticeship is that you are offered a level 2 certificate in recruitment practice. This is a fantastic qualification as I get to put the skills I use in everyday work, in to a qualification! These skills include customer service, people management, candidate ownership, offer negotiations etc. I've also become a lot more confident within my ability to learn about a new role in a short space of time, adapting to each role and client seamlessly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • To the moon and back! In my previous occupation (Nannying/Childcare) I never had the chance to actually progress my career with qualifications or promotions. In the programme, I am not only able to increase my salary through target based objectives, I have also been able to join a new sector with no prior experience.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BPS World?
  • Very much so. Not only do BPS World listen to me when I am down or struggling, but they help pick me back up and understand my struggles, in order to overcome them. BPS World are based around their core values (Commitment, Passion, Excellence and Delivery)< and working for a company that holds it values so close to it's heart, makes you feel valued and like you are all a part of the business.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clearly defined structure in which the Stars Program is set (The great thing is, this extends beyond the apprentice program and through the entire business!). The structure shows you the exact targets you need to hit in order to progress to the next stage, along with your grade in the business, and what the payrise will be for progressing to the next level. If anything is ever unclear, anyone and everyone is happy to help out to ensure your understanding of what is expected of you.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The support is phenomenal. BPS has a dedicated L&D team who are there to help you in every stage of your apprenticeship. You are encouraged to give your all, but never pressured in to an area you are completely un-confident with. That said, the L&D team are keen to help Apprentices break from their comfort zone and expand their horizons.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • BPS World is (as cheesy as it sounds!) a family. The main thing I noticed is that our Founder and CEO [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], sits on the same floor as everyone else. No one is cordoned in their own office so you get a feeling that everyone the in company is equal. Which makes you feel like you can speak to people and be open when you need support or help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Now when I first started my salary was less than half of what I had been on before however, I had never had the chance to earn an industry specific qualification! And within 3 months I had already earned a £2K increase, then another £2K after another 3 months! Then upon completion, yet another payrise! So although you start low, you get a great opportunity to progress that in a very short space of time.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • At BPS World we highly value our Social Events! When I first started, we had an outdoor rounders game (secretly one of my favorites from School!) with everyone getting involved. Of course there were some beers and nibbles on the sidelines for those who didn't wish to or were not able to get involved. Then an all expenses paid meal out with drinks flowing and happy stories a-plenty. This hasn't slowed down and we've hosted some amazing events right here including Bingo, Ferret Racing (With licensed racers and rescue ferrets) and so much more! When it's time to give back to the local community, we all get involved with local charities and events as we believe that support starts in the local community.

  • 9. Would you recommend BPS World to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I can honestly say I've never been happier, more valued and content with my job. I always saw work as such a chore but now, it's a home away from home where you can learn, progress and overcome.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BPS World?
  • Definitely show your personality and don't be afraid to ask questions. We don't have an atmosphere of 'just another brick in the wall', we love to see everyone's individual personalities and talents shine through in to what they do. Also, it can be daunting to ask questions you might think are silly in a new environment, but don't be afraid! If you never ask you will never know, and asking these questions showcases that you care and are listening about the potential opportunity.
