  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was involved with overseeing the incoming mailbox and social media account for TUI. I typically responded to customer feedback and retweeted positive examples of service that people had received.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to gain an understanding of how businesses can use their social media accounts to allow them to effectively promote themselves in this space. I have worked closely with experienced social media handlers and have developed my writing skills and an understanding of TUI tone of voice

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed the programme as it has allowed me to understand social media from a business perspective and not just a personal one. I have met many great people from all walks of the organisation and look forward to developing myself further at TUI.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by TUI UK & Ireland?
  • TUI have always made me feel like a valued member of the team and have never talked down to me just because I was on an apprenticeship scheme. Other people that are on apprenticeship schemes with other well know companies haven't been so lucky. Thank you TUI for a fantastic introduction to the world of business.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When i first applied for the scheme I was surprised at how much structure the scheme has. I had a full induction when i joined the company and was also given my training and development plan moving forwards. I was given half a day a week to study and complete my paperwork/college work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My tutor was always available, either by email or over the phone. I didn't have to make too much use of her as I had such a supportive network of colleagues in my office that would always help me out.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager was great at allowing me the opportunities to complete any required paperwork/college work when i needed to. She was also on hand o provide me with regular feedback on how i was performing in the role which allowed me to grow my skill set and develop.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • This was the only area where I feel TUI could improve slightly. I had to pay for all my own travel costs to college, which I feel should have been funded by TUI as part of the apprenticeship scheme. My salary was acceptable given that I had no experience of working, other than in a part time role whilst at school.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • TUI have a very active social calendar of events. These can either be at a local level (eg individual office) or at a group level through tools such as the intranet and face to face events. They also support time out for volunteering in the local community and getting involved with good cause projects.

  • 9. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They have a very open culture and are always prepared to listen to anyone's ideas, no matter what level of the organisation they operate at.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • Be yourself and allow your personality to come across when you go for an interview. TUI don't just look for the finished article and really invest in their people and their development.
