  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Legal Support Co-ordinator - Commercial Property Department Tasks range greatly as assistance is ad hoc. Examples of taks include: drafting/proof reading document, legal research, and creating property portfolios. Daily interactions were with all of those in the firm, from print room to partners - all working collectively to achieve the best result most efficiently. External interactions were most with councils in trying to obatin information. Other interactions included client contact, mostly the provision of information to them. Responsibilities would depend on the task in hand, but generally quite a lot of responsibility was given once I had established myself in the department. Projects included amassing due diligence on a multi-strategy investment group, drafting letters and deeds for property sale, and compiling information on properties owned or rented by a university and researching charges and obligations held over the properties. Each day was different because of the nature of the work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working closely with 2 Assistant Paralegals developed my teamwork skills immensly as we all had to be available to help each other with busy projects and had to know each other's capacity in order to accept work on their behalf. Managing conflicting deadlines was another skill I developed as many tasks were simultaneous and often were urgent. Pre-plannning and teamwork were the solutions.
