  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • Whilst developing among experienced technicians and engineers, I feel more valued then I expected as they give full support and trust in the work that you produce. I was put straight into a huge project and starting from the beginning, I have widened my skills in Revit which is one of the exciting software’s that we use here in ARUP. As well as that, they have also helped me to widen my knowledge of the engineering sector which I find that helps me a lot whilst working because I can understand the work that I am producing.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised both work and studying wise to help you manage the work load to be successful in both. I believe that as the years go past, the structure of the programme will get even better to help anyone joining the scheme with their career choice and help them become successful.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I get a good amount of support from college although some tutors may be more helpful than others. The tutors guide and help to strive me to make sure that I achieve a distinction in all units which will help me in the future with further studies.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get full support from ARUP with both work and college as I got put with a mentor which is always there to help me when I need him. I find this very useful because I go to college once a week which means that I can ask my mentor for help and information instead of wasting time to wait another week and ask the tutor at college. Work wise, I am able to get any support and help that I need from a varitey of people so the support is always there when I need it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary that I receive from ARUP does meet most of my requirements but as I get older, the requirements get higher as well and that is where the salary turns into a bit of a problem. I think that the salary could be a bit more higher because one of the biggest problems is the amounnt that we have to pay for travel.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities that ARUP provides us with outside of work for example, being able to apply for a location change in the many countries that ARUP offices are located in for a period of up to 2 years which I am very excited to do because I will be able to travel all over the world whilst working.

    9/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The reason being is because all of my colleagues are very close and welcoming and we are like a very big family where I feel confident and happy. As well as earning money, I am studying and learning on the career and job that I want to do in the future and this is surely helping me to achieve this.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • The one advice that I would give anyone joining ARUP is to not leave college work to the last minute and instead spend an hour or two each day when it is set to complete it or your life will get very hard and tiring. As well as that, they should also ask many questions to engineers as well as technicians as possible because they are here to help you and you get to find out a lot of interesting information.
