  • Network Engineer rotating around different areas of business e.g. operational work, testing, project/delivery management, design, platform management, software. Responsibilities can be varied, fault diagnosis and resolution, design and test, people management etc. Working with outside peers, vendors etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Large amount of internal qualifications (ALPS, Advanced Learning Pathways), First aid trained, learned skills through NVQ e.g. health and safety.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • A lot. Work is varied and enjoyable, company seems good, people are friendly and great work ethic/culture.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • Very valued. Lots of importance and responsibility given to apprentices. Real opportunities and higher management are passionate about apprentices succeeding. Good reward/recognition system within BT.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Incredibly well, they are experienced in handling apprenticeships. Framework set in place with apprentice-specific learning, rotation system in some areas, teams are used to having apprentices and assign rotation leads to look after them. Lots of support, meetings, buddy system etc.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Uni Lecturers are there to help. Apprentice coach very good, routine meetings and feel support is always there if needed. Support easily accessed.

  • Support is there if needed. Semi-regular meetings with manager but this could be improved.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Generous salary, increased with each year of apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Endless. Volunteering days given each year, always stuff on. On site gym/leisure company, Adastral Park hosts events. Play lots of snooker, tennis etc. Gym.

  • Yes

  • A great place to work, with lots of opportunities. Either great career or great experience to begin career.

  • Be yourself, show off your great personal skills, be passionate.
