Craft Apprentice Review

I am a craft apprentice which means I spend most of my time in the manufacturing hall. I help to assemble, test and inspect the products we make in the company.

I have learnt many new skills along the academic side of my apprenticeship whilst completing my Level 2 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations. I am still learning new things through day to day work on site, and at college studying for my Level 3 BTEC and completing my Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

I enjoy my programme because I work with such helpful and friendly people in the workplace and this creates a good atmosphere to work in.

I feel very valued as I am always praised for hard work where it is due.

My programme is very well structured, starting with inductions into every work placement as well as a well thought out placement plan.

I receive a lot of help from my training provider as they are willing to give up time and effort to help when I need it.

I receive a lot of support from my employer as I have quarterly reviews and other avenues to let my problems be heard and they do their best to help me with them.

My salary meets my costs well.

There are a lot of opportunities off site to take part in, as I have personally been involved in several off site visits for supporting schools as well as apprenticeship fairs.

It's a very interesting job and its a great way to get into the engineering industry.

Just work hard and stick at it, the application process may seem gruelling but the job is worth it.
