1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
i am currently in my second year at premier-foods. in my first year i was based at collage doing my ERA qualification where i learned basic engineering skills. in my second year i came back to the company and am now based at Carlton. in my day to day roles i shadow an engineering on breakdowns as well as some project work. i also do my level 3 NVQ at the same time. in September i will be starting my HNC at AMRC in Sheffield.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i thoroughly enjoy the programme i believe it gives me key skills and qualities that will allow me to pursue a career in engineering in my future.
4. How valued do you feel by Premier Foods?
i feel as though I am a valued part of the team within the engineering department. the company is very helpful with all my needs whether they be collage or work related.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
at first there were flaws in the programme and no real sens of direction with day to day activity's but as time has gone on and a new manager has taken over our apprenticeship programme i think things have improved massively and now we have a day to day plan which helps with learning and makes me feel part of the team.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
i only really have contact with the training provider when my assessor comes in once a month to check work etc, but i feel as though we are not properly informed about changes with the course and starting/finishing dates for my work. i am supposed to be staring a HNC in September and i have received no information from the college on starting dates or what the qualification entails. i had to transfer training providers half way through my NVQ due to my first college going in to liquidation and since then things have seemed to be up in the air and no one seems to know whats happening with my NVQ in terms of meeting the new colleges criteria and if i will need to do additional work in order to achieve there standard of the new college but hopefully in time as i progress through the NVQ things will become clearer.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
i receive total support from my employer they are more then willing to help with work and to help push me to be the best i can be.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
not very well, im paid 15000 a year and struggle towards the end of the month with money after i have paid all outgoing costs such as 250 a month car insurance, board and other expenses.

yes i believe there are many opportunities outside work but first i want to complete my apprenticeship before i take into consideration moving company.
