  • Environmental technician - carry out routine tasks for the dynamic and climatic test of units manufactured both in-house and externally.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • All technical skills I have currently have been learnt in work. As well as this, I have gained a HNC and HND in Eng. Systems through college.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am now in my final placement and thoroughly enjoy working in my department. All expectations have been met and clear future goals have been set for post-apprenticeship progression.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Leonardo?
  • Very valued. Future goals have been clearly set and currently I have a lot of day-to-day responsibilities. Regular meetings with senior management clearly outline the value of apprentices to the company both long-term and short-term.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • A good variety of placements are given to each apprentice. Necessary support given when required so all work can be completed with confidence.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • If required, support is readily available. This can be through management, college lecturers etc.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much as required. Support must be sought after by the individual. There are many sources of support from engineers to older apprentices to senior management. All of which are happy to help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Very well. Higher than average wage for an apprentice.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, a lot of extracurricular activities take place and are open to all employees.

  • Yes

  • Good working experience in a variety of different engineering environments. Qualifications gained whilst working full time.
