  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Mostly involves designing assembling and testing electrical equipment for a range of applications. Often working in a workshop or at our outdoor test range

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. Gained greater knowledge of electrical systems and how they operate as well as learning how to use some of the relevant CAD tools involved in the design process. Also gained lots of knowledge of antenna theory.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much enjoy the range of work that is carried out and following an idea from the initial ideas to a working product. There is always work to keep me busy.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Leonardo?
  • I feel well valued by the company. I am in frequent contact with management and some problems that I had with a previous training provider were quickly rectified

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised with the tasks to be completed in each year were set out before I started with options to adapt to the job role.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I work in a small group in the days that I'm there and have contact details for several people who I can contact if needed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive good support from my employer with various points of contact who can assist in resolving any issues that I may have. I am very happy with the support received, especially for such a large company.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary easily covers my current costs and would be able to stretch if my circumstances were to change (e.g. housing, travel). I am also happy with the increase received between the first and second years. Salary was also higher than a number of the other positions I considered

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are some activities outside of work. Some from my employer and some from my training provider. I have attended a couple of work related trade shows. This is one area that could possibly be improved, although I do work on a smaller site.

  • 9. Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They offer a range of positions each with opportunities for progressions and training. There are also a number of locations around the country which give options to a number of different people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
  • Find a position that interests you and have fun. Don't be concerned about providing honest feedback or details of any issues as there are many members of staff that will be able to quickly rectify these problems.
