  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a 360 Apprentice, my role changes very often as I rotate around the company and change teams. Generally, I help the team out with 'adminy' tasks (such as proof-reading, booking meetings etc), but I also do more exciting things too (such as audit assists, 1:1 client calls, designing websites etc).

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In the first year on the 360 programme, you work towards your AAT Level 3 qualification. As well as this, I have learnt softer skills such as email management, how to work with senior people, prioritisation, team work, and more technical things in Audit and Pensions (the two departments I have worked in so far).

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my job - I love the fact that everyday is different, and that I'm not treated as an apprentice and only made to do boring jobs. The company as a whole has a really good, inclusive vibe to it and makes you feel welcome.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I feel that as an apprentice it can be quite hard to feel noticed and valued, but this is not the case. AS long as you keep putting yourself forward for exciting projects and volunteering for even the little jobs, you'll get your name out there.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a structure in terms of when our exams are, and when we rotate from department to department. I do feel like the management team are well organised and respond quickly to emails.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training is provided by BPP and they are in regular contact with us when we are studying. However, the emails that they send out are obviously automated, so it looses that personal touch. I haven't ever emailed them, but I know that they reply quickly and are very helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive and huge amount of support from the management team, and they're in regular email and Skype contact with us. Sometimes when everything is going ok and you feel on top of things, the constant emails to get a bit repetitive - but when you need their help, you know it's there.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary does meet my travel costs, however I do still live at home with my parents. I pay them a small amount of rent but if I was to move out, I would not have enough to support that.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are so many volunteering and extra-curricular activities that you can get involved with. KPMG give you a yearly allowance of 6 days to take and do some volunteering. They also organise quarterly forums for all 360 apprentices up and down the country and this is a good way for us all to get together and network.

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel like it was a perfect alternative to university. If, after I graduate, I will apply for job, why not take a job that I'm being offered now! And without the debt!! KPMG has a HUGE number of employees and they all have something to teach us, their knowledge is amazing!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Do your research before you apply and have your interview. Make sure that you know the company values and have examples about how you have demonstrated these. And be yourself!! KPMG will employ you because they want you.
