  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Job Title: Assembly Apprenticeship Daily Task: To work with other on a assembly line to build turbo's. Daily Interactions: I have a morning briefing and we are told what we have to build for today. Also we get told about any problems we have and also if there is anything they are going to do to the line in general. Responsibilities: I have to ensure every turbo I have built is up to standard and also to spot on problems with a turbo before it gets sent off to the next station or even the customer.

  • Nice Skills: Assembly of a turbocharger. 5's First Aid 6 Sigma Risk Assessments Health And Safety Advisor Developed Skills: Communication Presentation Assembly Skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Work: Overall I enjoy the line of work I do as I love building and tearing down equipment's and I fell that it helps to improve them skills overall. Team: The teams I have worked with over the time of my apprenticeship have been very nice and fun to work with I fell that I am apart of the team and enjoy coming to work. Expectations: Overall it beat the expectations. for when I came in here just after finishing school I felt that I would not fit in and also everyone would be just be heads down working but everyone I have worked with was very nice and helpful. Overall I have enjoyed my time being an apprentice at Cummins

  • I fell that the company values me as the next generations of Cummins employees and that have more planned for us.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Induction: When I started we received a full induction on what we are doing, Facilities, people we would be working with. Training: We have received a lot of training over the time of working at Cummins. Support: I have received a lot of support over the time and it has helped me with the problems I have had. Studying: We received Two hours on a week to use as study time. Overall if fell that the structure of my program was well done and I all ways knew where I would be going next or what I would be doing next.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Overall I fell the support I get is amazing as if I am struggling or even not happy with things going on I know that I can go to some and get the help or advice.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Manager: I can go to any of my mangers and have any of my problems I have and they will be able to sort it. HR Team: I have only ever had to go to them once with a problem I have had but overall they sorted the problem out as soon as possible. Any time I needed support I could go to the manager or even a work friend and they would be able to help me in sorting the problem out or even help me go further with one. I fell that they enjoy helping me when I am stuck or even upset.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Costs: With the salary I get I am easily able to cover all the living, travel, daily and social cost that come up. The location of the work if great for me as it is only 5 minutes away from me and I am able to work from my home to work.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • we do an event at work called eec which is where we work with shops, schools, care homes to help the fix, build or even work things for the day. Also we have a sports an social club where we can get some amazing trips around the world for very low prices. They also do gym classes and training for people.

  • 9. Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I fell Cummins is a great company to work for as of the all the support I get from my managers and also work mates are great. Also all the training they would receive would help them over all in the long run. The wage also is very good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
  • Application: I would advice people to make sure the cv looks good and make sure that it stands out from all the others. Assessment Test: The test I did was about maths, English and general engineering knowledge. Interviews: Make sure to extend all your answers as It helps a lot also make sure you look very presentable.
