  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working in security for BT as a penetration tester. Daily responsibilities mostly deal with research and focusing on currently vulnerabilities which be used against the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I developed my skills as a programmer and have gone into specialize a mobile hacker. I've learnt how to managed databases, various areas of computer exploitation .

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It has changed my life for the better, I've now been exposed to a world I never really knew existed and could of never imagine I would be working in the cyber security industry.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • I very valued by BT, especially within my team. I'm always involved in different projects as well as taking part in conferences and giving talks to audiences.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is very well organised when dealing with the 3 stages of my development. Going better operational work, university and my NVQ it has given so much to do to work making me develop a lot more.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I get a tremendous amount of support from my team as well as my apprenticeship coaches. Ranging from how to approach a new project to seeing what my wellbeing is on my day to day working life.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • BT has given me many opportunities to be able to develop and allow me to work in the industry that has always fascinated me. I've gotten a lot of support from my team and they have also helped me to develop.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my cost and has allowed me to finally work with a competitive wage as well as it'll lead to a prosperous career. I also get regular and fair pay increases.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I' have taken part in many company events ranging from conferences to career days for new employees. Locations have been very varied from London, Birmingham and Suffolk.

  • 9. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because BT would give them the opportunity to train and develop new skills. It'll then allow them to start a career and build a reputation within a company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • For when they get to assessment centres the main tip would be to really stand out from the crowd and use your enthusiasm to get noticed. Also when in interviews use your experiences to you're advantage.
