  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am now A network designer providing technical high level and low level designs for customer, s well as making sure documentation for customer networks that are managed by us is up to date. This jobs was a promotion from the job that i started my apprenticeship in which was in the diagnostics centre assisting engineers with faults.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Performance management, Better time management, I have gained my CCNA, I have gained leadership skills through covering management and leadership roles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my apprenticeship as It gave me valuable experience as well as allowed me to learn new skills and earn qualifications whilst earning a salary.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • I always feel a great appreciation for the work that I do from higher ups, I am always made to feel valued. This enables me to want to try my best.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well organised. All the necessary training was given, study time was well organised and more than enough get through all of your study work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider gave me a lot of support. They were always contactable and even provided several face to face meeting sometimes at short notice to provide assistance.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • HR are contactable through various methods. My manager have always been very supportive and are always willing to have a chat.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The pay during my apprenticeship period easily covered all of my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Management and the company regularly provide events and social outings. BT actively promote volunteering days which can be taken during work time.

  • 9. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BT is a great place to work. the Job is very demanding but also very rewarding. The team are always willing to help and are always sociable. It is genuinely a good place to work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Preparation is key. During the assessment days ensure that you talk to other people that are also on the assessment day with you, this makes you stand out more as the people you are talking to could also be your colleagues in the near future. The on boarding process is a little lengthy but is not too strenuous. I had little to no experience in IT other than personal hobbies and interests before I joined the company.
