  • ship tracking European naphtha flows, giving supply and demand updates to traders via shipping information daily. Active member of the trading bench.

  • communication skills, how to cope under pressure, delivering good quality output under time pressure, get some structured training, not that much more of that to come next year.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • good, lots of opportunity to develop skills and knowledge. good company culture, good work life balance, some good fellow school leavers on the scheme.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BP?
  • Largely very good, at times hard to get appreciation from traders due to stressful/time dependant nature of the trading floor, but in long term input is recognised.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • very good, clear structure in place to rotate into better roles as the scheme goes on, good culture of accepting new grads in the various teams when we rotate annually.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Receive support on the bench (assuming you ask for it) and support from upstairs training managers. Can find mentors if you go to them and ask for guidance.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Similar as above, get support when you ask for it, people happy to talk and answer questions. mentors are available to you if you find someone you want.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Largely good, meets costs of getting to work/living (albeit at home.) Wage growth from year to year up to final years of the scheme could be improved.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • yes opportunity to get involved outside of work, social events pretty regular, sports clubs/events come around frequently and good subsided access to the gym.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • good opportunity to grow and learn lots, largely valued on trading benches, senior people in company see the value of young eager people on the trading benches.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BP?
  • be yourself, be open to other peoples ideas, be a team player, be willing to take a step back from problems and try and solve them, and try get work experience before
