i am training to be a mainteance engineer. the day to day duties include attending breakdowns and helping out the skilled trades. sometimes i am set individual tasks t complete
I have learnt lots of new skills including fitting and welding. i have improved various skills such as my hands on skills as i previously had some experience from my hobbies
i enjoy the apprenticeship because it has given me a career and a job for life and the skills i have also gained are important as i can apply for other jobs easily if i wanted to in the future
i feel like i am a valuable asset to the company as i work in a fairly small maintenance group, so a small team of us help keep the plant running and producing cars
the apprenticeship had a good structure although there were times that we were messed around when it was being decided which course we needed to do which was outside of the original plan
i recieve good support from my training provider as they always ensure i am keeping up to date with my work and they give me advice on things i can do to further my knowledge
i recieve support from my employer but only when it is needed and the rest of the time i am left to work with the shift which can sometimes mean i am unsure what i should do
i am very pleased with my salary and it is very rewarding to do an apprenticeship which pays well and gives you good training for the future
there are plenty of csr events that we can attend outside of work and also other activities such as the els scheme which enables you to do things youve never done before
Yes

make sure that you choose the best gcse subjects applicable to a role you would like to do here and a levels too if you do them as that will help you to get onto further courses
