  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I completed the 4-week summer internship in Assurance. I was working alongside a senior associate and the work I was involved in was related to controls testing, creating workbooks, rewriting memos.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • It was important for me to organise my work due to the large volume of it so I can keep track of how much is outstanding and ensure I am working efficiently.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like having the balance of work and study in the programme, as this helps ease the transition to full time work. Also, the company culture was very friendly and i really do look forward to going back and working there.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I think EY was very good at making me feel like I was a part of the team. I was always helped along the way and everyone was keen to answer any questions I may have.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure and organisation of the programme is straightforward, so nothing confusing there. There are many informal and for meetings arranged by EY throughout the year. Before each placement, there are inducts and meetings to get you geared up for the placements. On the placement, there is a buddy assigned that can help you with small daily tasks and help you find your way around the office and area.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • For any general problems regarding the scholarship or placements, you can just ask one of the student recruitment team members and they are always there to help throughout the year.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Same as above, you can just ask anyone in the student recruitment team any questions regarding the programme or placements and they are happy to help throughout the year.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My main expenses where travel and food, which were well covered in the salary. If there are any client related expenses, then EY reimburse you for them.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are social events that take place throughout the year in various departments. EY also has sports teams you can get involved with and other societies that match your interests.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • It was a great working environment, the work was varied and interesting, and the people were really friendly and helpful.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Ensure you prepare for the assessment centre well and have a few good examples on hand for the interview. Also, ask for help when you don't understand anything, as everyone is helpful there and it will help you work more efficiently.
