  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis my job role, is working in part of a team to fix any engineering problems on the production line. This means I don't have to same task everyday, so I can be hands on at the shop floor or designing something to prevent/solve the problem for next time.

  • I have learn and developed lots of my skills, this can be at work as well as at college. For example some of the skills I have learn is how to use software to design a part, this is a skill that I can take to any task. I have also learnt the theoretical that I need to understand the best solution to a problem. This can vary from how a material make up effect it property's, to having the skills and equations to work out the forces acting on it.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Teledyne/E2V?
  • As an apprentice I feel very valued at Teledyne E2V, this because everyone has the same view on apprentices. This is that we are the future of the business, so that will show us the skills they have got so we can have them as well. They also think we are free eyes, meaning that we can go into a problem and see something they may have missed. Also if you show you are really trying and giving it 110% they will recognise you, this can make you eligible for lot of awards or even apprentice of the year at awards night

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme at Teledyne-E2V is organised very well, this is because the apprentice manager has frequent meetings with all of the apprentices to get feed back. If there is any problems the manager will try his best to resolve this, this can be at home or work. While in placement it is as organised, this is because you meet you managers and they give you someone to work closely with. This mean that if you need any help they can give you it and they will also set you more tasks so you always have something to do.

  • 9. Would you recommend Teledyne/E2V to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Teledyne E2V to a friend, this is because I have been supported the hole way through the process. It is also a very interesting company to work for because only a handful of company's make the product we do, this makes the skills you also learn very good for your future. I also would tell a friend to join Teledyne E32V because there is opportunity's for anyone that is willing to push for them.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Teledyne/E2V?
  • Make sure any application is written correctly and is presented well, also show why you are interested in. So if you like engineering tell them why you like it and where you would like to see yourself in 5 to 10 years. For the assessment day/interviews make sure you have done your research and know about the company. Also tell the company what you will bring them, so they know what you can provide. I got this advice from have work experience at a engineering company and believe it would be good advice for anyone applying.
