  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, having worked only briefly in the motor vehicle production industry prior to my apprenticeship, I've picked up and honed a wide array of skills that I put to use in my job role.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLR?
  • Very valued, my concerns once voiced are heard and suitably actioned, and support is available for a number of reasons spanning both personal and professional.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The JLR structure of the overall apprenticeship is bulletproof, however it is being let down by third party organisations entrusted with carrying out the academic instruction and tuition of the apprentices.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Most members of staff are very supportive, however some have been dumped with classloads following the departure of some staff from the college and so can't provide as high a level of tuition/support as they otherwise would have.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Managers and work based learning managers are all supportive and helpful when any issue raised. I work in an environment filled with other apprentices and ex apprentices who offer support and help when I need it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Its generous for an apprenticeship but as a homeowner it is sometimes difficult to make ends meet

    6/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yeah, volunteer schemes are supported and encouraged by the company to be undertaken during working times

    9/10

  • 9. Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They're a good company and the advanced engineering apprenticeship scheme is a robust example of a holistic and fleshed out approach to engineering apprenticeships, with the potential to go on and study at a university level.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Approach the process with an open mind, dress suitably for any face-to-face stage of the application process, and be yourself and do your best, which is all anyone can ask for.
