  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently undertaking a Business Improvement role in order to complete my Green Belt improvement project. This project is inventory based so capturing the locations of the work-in-progress parts and any non-conformance 'dropouts' is a daily task.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Vast improvement in IT skills due to the particular improvement project I'm delivering. General role responsibilities of colleagues and when to utilise their knowledge for problem solving activities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have so far managed to undertake my mandated trainee roles in different areas of the business (both regarding what parts are made there and the geographical location). I have much enjoyed the experience of working in these diverse environment.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • Knowing the monetary value of the education they're providing me with via a university degree and the overall levels of responsibility I'm given in my different roles I do feel valued by the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is highly self driven and there is onus on us to find placements ourselves, but there is a support network to help if needed with this.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My course manager has one-to-one sessions with me every 6-8 weeks to check-up on my progress both with my work and university studies. If there are any problems there is a guaranteed face-to-face session that I can use to discuss these.

  • There are support function available and we have mandated training to make us aware of there functions and how we can contact then if need be.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Having relocated for my programme I am able to live comfortably on my currently salary; house sharing (renting), food bills etc aren't a problem.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is an Apprentice & Graduate Association that runs events for employees in my age group and the company has a high involvement with running STEM activities in the local area especially.

  • 9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The breadth of jobs available in an engineering capacity and the general working atmosphere I've experience while working for the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Make sure the course you're applying for is the right one to suit your skills and interests as there are a number to choose from and do at least some basic research on the company before any interviews.
