  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is a Process apprentice. My daily tasks include: learning in depth the process of the factory, communications team, developing the resources that operators have available to them. My responsibilities are to ensure that there is an established communications magazine in the factory as well as an up-to-date my line programme.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have developed my time management skills as there is a huge change in work load from sixth form to the working industry. I have also learnt many new facts about the manufacturing process which is very transferable.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is very good! There is a lot of opportunity to develop and you are given loads of opportunities. The company fund you to visit different factories and also to attend a specialist college 3 hours away from the site.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Nestle?
  • I feel very valued by nestle as they give you the responsibility to feel like you are giving something back to the company. The amount of opportunities and development that has been offered to me is also a good representation to how much they value me as an apprentice.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured and there is a clear plan for my first year with the company. after the first year then it becomes fluid to tailor the programme to suit my career choice

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a good amount of support from the college that I attend, however, it can be difficult to keep on top of the lectures when you are a distanced learner.

  • I receive a large amount of support from my employer and they support me to aid my development in my role. I have a development plan in place to up skill myself.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is excellent! My costs are a fraction of my salary. The salary for nestle in comparison to other apprenticeships within Carlisle exceeds their salaries.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are opportunities to take part in community events in the local village where the factory is based representing the factory. There are also opportunities to represent the academy team to promote apprenticeships to local schools and at local events

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Yes because there is a lot of opportunity! The starting salary is also very good for an apprenticeship. The people within nestle are also really friendly and everyone wants to see you doing well.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • Sell the experience you have and where you want to be in the future! Nestle are not as interested in qualifications in comparison to you as a person. They would rather you had the right attitude and personality to show that you will excel.
