  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Manufacturing Apprentice. Within my first 6 months I have learnt how to run the production line. This includes doing quality checks and ensuring the products are of the correct specification. It has also involved me participating in problem solving activities to ensure the line runs effectively and efficiently.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Nestle?
  • I feel valued by Nestle most of the time. However sometimes I feel as an Apprentice we are sometimes forgotten about and are not utilised enough. I also feel that our progress is not monitored in a proper manner.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction and initial training was very organised and informative. We have enough support for our study's as we get a 6hour block to complete college work. However now that this part of the training programme has come to an end I feel it is not very well organised. As a manufacturing apprentice I also feel like there is a lack of an end goal for the apprenticeship. I do not know what role I could go into.

  • We receive lots of support and guidance. They are always on hand and are helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • General support when it has been requested has been very good. However I feel like there needs to be a more structured way of having a mentor and set goals of what the company want you to achieve but also what you want to achieve throughout your apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It meets costs well. It is a well paid apprenticeship which I appreciate.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are not many opportunities outside work apart from the charity work you are able to do fully paid.

    6/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Nestle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a huge company so it has lots of opportunities and different job roles. They look after the staff they have and the job is interesting. If you want training they generally give you it which I think is great.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • I would come to the interview stage and simply be yourself as much as you can. Its a huge opportunity to get your foot in the door with a great company where you are going to learn absolutely tonnes whilst being paid good money for it. I would have liked to have been told more about what the apprenticeship involves as it was a bit vague.
