  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is based in the training team. I have daily duties that include: training tracking, SOP uploading and mandatory training. I get the opportunity to take part in projects around the site giving me a good understanding of manufacturing and filling and packing departments. I am part of a team of people giving me responsibilities within the business that are recognised internally and externally. I also get the chance to communicate with people on other sites building relationships within Nestle as a company and not just my site.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Nestle give me the opportunity to complete courses to further my knowledge and skills, these are recognised both internally and externally. This is great for me as it helps me in my day to day role. I have learnt how to try and be a good trainer and facilitator. My communication skills have also improved due to the amount of people I get to meet everyday. It is great to work for a company that values knowledge and competence this much, and that it is proved with the investment in each individual.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Nestle?
  • Nestle is a very big company, therefore it is hard to see how you fit into the bigger picture. However, when you are working within a team and having a supportive line manager you get a lot of good feedback. This makes me feel very valued as an employee.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have a two week induction covering all mandatory training and team building exercises. We have regular catch up meetings to ensure we are on track and are being adequately supported. Ownership is a big part of the apprenticeship so you have to use your own planning too.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We use an external training provider that is good, however they are far away and do not come to support as often as I would like. They haven't given us enough guidance after giving us the curriculum. Although, the system in which we upload is really good, it can be waiting in the system for a while.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive great support from my employer/line manager. I have a mentor as well as regular catch ups with both. I enjoy working within my company due to the help and support I receive making me a better employee.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is good. As I have two children I need to be able to factor a lot of costs into my wage and I am able to do this. I feel very lucky compared to other companies with a lower wage as I may not have been able to continue with my studies if I did not have a good wage.
