apprentice - sales Review

i work as a sales assistant mainly but the work can be varied and i am told by other staff and my employee/supervisor about what jobs need doing and also occasionally learn or improve on a skill. I also can do mundane jobs such as stacking shelves.

i have learnt more about customer interelation and how to manage problems with customers too. I have been shown how to stock shelves and check for stock as well as work on tills too. I better understand the business and have improved my business skills

i enjoy the programme fairly well however there can be times when i am not as enthusiastic as i should be although i did apply and wanted to know more about shop working and how i would enjoy it.

i feel fairly valued by savers. we are always asked on a weekly basis how we are doing and we have fairly regular checks on our progress through the scheme. we are also asked if we need any help or have any problems.

it's fairly well organised however sometimes we have had a couple of problems with work and being able to finish the educational aspect to the scheme too. overall it is organised fairly well and i am happy with the progress.

i get a fair amount of support from my training provider and i feel like i can go to them if i have any problems (both business-related or personal issues) as they are open and they do not necessarily act formal all the time.

my employer always asks how i am and i feel very well treated by them as well. I know my employer has a lot of people to deal with as well as the business so i understand if i do not necessarily have their full attention all the time.

my wages are fair. i know minimum wage for apprentices is fairly low compared to full-time employment from the company however we do get yearly wage rises depending on our progress so this spures me onto completing my work and educational-side of the scheme.

we are always informed with opportunities outside of work. we are not necessarily pushed into doing other work/experiences but i like that we can choose what we want to do as extra activites.

i would reccomend it to anyone wanting a job in retail and not wanting to go to university either as the scheme offers a lot more promise than going to uni and getting a student loan. it is good to work and learn new things before qualifyng to almost get a head start. the staff and employees are all really friendly and open too.

i would say to be yourself and let them know how happy you are to want to work for the company and show them you understand the benefits and why you are best suited for the savers apprentice scheme.
