  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my engineering and manufacturing skills from basic to a very high level as working in the industry gives you a better view into how it works which in-turn has allowed me to learn a lot more by doing rather than reading. Also the degree [program they put us on gives us the academic side as well which has really helped understand the subject in detail

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • for me the program that I am on is always teaching me new things which helps me maintain my enjoyment in the subject. I love my job and that the company really looks after you no matter what your situation is. also the fact that everyone in the teams and the higher up staff treats you as a colleague rather than a trainee makes the experience a lot nicer and makes it more enjoyable in the process.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • I feel extremely valued as an apprentice at rolls Royce as everyone sees us as there future and that we are there to help the company move forward. another reason why is because the company put so much into us in the form of courses, the degree program and even sending us to another site to gain better experience.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • when I first arrived at the company I felt like I was a fish in an ocean however the induction and the training that they put us through make us feel that we are part of a team. this is structured in such a way that we are always a step ahead of what we need to learn for example we learn how to use all the systems that we need to know for the shop floor before we even get there. the apprenticeship as a whole is set out like this and there is always room to be able move forward and never get stuck.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • for each of us we have an apprentice development leader. They support us through the entirety of out apprenticeship giving us support on what ever we need from simple advice on how to deal with something to career prospects and helping us go in the direction we want to get the career we want. also the managers and the assessor are all there supporting us along our apprenticeship. there has never been a moment when I have not been able to get support from someone due to everyone willing to help no matter what the issue is.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • our employer is the one who gives us an assignment ADL and then they give us information on who to contact for different issues. the attitude as a whole in terms of support is very good as they want to help us finish our apprenticeship so that we can give something back to help the company move forward.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary that they provide is more than enough to live on. and if not then they have help in place to help with those issue. what makes it really good is that there are stages within the apprenticeship program that give us a pay rises depending on our performance. this helps us perform better and also makes us feel we are moving forward. its a brilliant incentive to get the work done.

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend and to anybody for that matter because it is a brilliant company that takes good care of there apprentices and also because the program itself gives you so many possibilities within the company and outside the company. also because the apprenticeship sets you up for a good career with an amazing company who fully train you up to a degree level and even better they pay you to do it.
