  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I worked as a data analyst. During my first project I worked with the foundation team in an SAS project, in my second project I worked on the testing team in a SAP project. I maintained the record of all inferfaces on my first project and helped organize third party companies in accessing the required systems to be able to carry out their work for the client. I currently created daily reports on the progress for 4 different testing workstreams to be sent to stake holders and to be used by the PMO teams for their deep dive sessions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working here, especially because of the people I work with. Both teams i have been part of have been really supportive and none have made me feel any less valued than any other member of the team. The difficulty of my tasks varied which meant there was a good level of pressure to keep me interested.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I received a lot of praise from my previous team and received a lot of thanks from the senior management on my team for my work. I felt extremely valued. I was given constructive critisism but never made to feel that my work wasn't good enough.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction week of training at the begining was very useful. It might have been better to have a little longer but I say that because i wanted to get to know the other interns more, not because i felt unprepared. I was given a lot of support from a consultant on my team and various other memebers of the team who i worked closely with. I learnt things very much on the job but in a structured way.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive guidence with problems and work closely with more senior members of my team who support me if i do not understand something. Support is readily avaliable during your project and there have been a few skill building meetings to help extend your training. These have been quite useful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my manager and my mentor. Both are extremely approachable and very helpful. The lead of the intern group is also very approachable and supportive. After an accident he took time to check if there was anything the company could provide to make coming back to work easier.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary covers the cost of living for me more than enough but for some other interns who have had to move out expenses are greater. None have struggled to live off their salary or complained they they feel they are underpaid

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Outside of work oportunities have varied depending on projects. There are quite a few intern specific social events. My project now has a football team. My previous project has staff squash competitions and has free access to an on site gym and classes were regularly held there. There is also the oportunity to attend days of voluntary work however these could be circulated and advertised more amongst teams.
