  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title at the Studios was 'Studio Assistant'. I worked primarily as a production liaison for the studios but other duties included; doing welcome packs for new productions starting with us, distributing production/studio information, checking shooting schedules with productions, booking meeting rooms, assisting both the Sales & Operations teams and many other roles. I also used a site map to create a visual aid for all of the Studio departments to indicate where the productions were on site by using a coloured key and creating an editable file on Photoshop. I won an award from the company for this project and this is distributed weekly to all studio staff.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have earned a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration, developed skills in Photoshop & InDesign, learned more about customer service, making booking confirmations and how a film studio works. The skills I have learnt here have been completely invaluable.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This has been an incredible opportunity for me and I could not be more thankful. I have been surrounded by an incredible team who have supported me throughout the process - this apprenticeship has opened my eyes to what is available, without this I would be going down a very different path.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by WarnerMedia?
  • From the first week of being at the Studios, there was a huge sense of community within the company. Everyone went out of there way to help me, take me under there wing and it is the first workplace that I have been to where it actually felt like a family.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that the programme is well structured, not so much organised purely because it was quite difficult to get hold of the tutor and often felt that I had to save up questions to ask her when she came to see me. It was much better towards the end of the programme and felt that there was a clearer track to follow.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I did receive support from the training provider but I felt that a lot of it was a little ad hoc. At the beginning, the course units could have been explained to me in more detail and examples of work for each unit would have been incredibly beneficial.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I was given a lot of support from my employer. The HR team made a huge effort to make sure that I was able to complete my course during working hours - specifically [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who has been an incredible support for me throughout my time at the Studios.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I'm aware that the salary was very good for an apprenticeship and was never stuck for money.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The studios are heavily involved in the local community, doing an incredible amount to help with charities and schools. They also have a 'get fit' scheme which is called Fitnation, the more exercise you do the more rewards are available to you. Any events have been made available to me purely through Warner Bros. Creative Talent - these have been incredible. In my spare time, I prep for a short film that I'm currently making. We also go to screenings at the local cinema with all the studios staff.

  • 9. Would you recommend WarnerMedia to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is rare to find a workplace where you are giving an incredible amount of support, not only with your career but also for your personal life. Everyone is so understanding and tries to bring out the best in you as an employee and a person.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WarnerMedia?
  • Throughout the whole process of applying for a job with Warner Bros, you must always be yourself - the company are investing in you, as an individual. If you are successful, make the most of every opportunity afforded to you, opportunities are a rarity and they can be incredibly beneficial to your career.
