  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Business and Systems Integration Analyst: My current project management role involves project financing, contract changes, procurement, tracking time and expenses and organising project communications and socials. I have also been given responsibility for the resourcing of 6 new roles. I work closely with the client within a team of both Accenture and Avanade employees on client site.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Accenture invest heavily in training and the courses we have been offered during our 8 month internship have all been brilliant and have added real value to the work I produce. Training almost always takes place in London so you would usually only have to take half a day out of your project role. The induction week at the beginning of the internship included many useful skills sessions which have helped significantly with my work since.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • Accenture invest heavily in their interns. You are always made to feel like a valuable part of the company and are actively encouraged to return to the firm as a graduate.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • You receive a week long induction and training and are then sent off to your first role. You're expected to find your second role yourself through networking. HR will keep a track of what project you're on but tend to take a back seat and expect you to contact them if you have any issues or questions. This suits me perfectly as I'm quite independent and don't want to be treated like I'm still in school, but others have found this transition harder. You will receive a 'business buddy' on your first project to get you settled in but I found that their input was no longer required after the first couple of weeks as you begin to network with colleagues immediately.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The external training provider does not actively keep in touch but we are free to contact them with any queries. However, I have found Accenture internal HR to be extremely good at providing any kind of training related support and therefore see no need to contact external provider.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager has always taken time to schedule regular catch-up sessions in order to check how I'm getting on. HR are very good and will always get back to you promptly. There is a 24hr counselling service for those who feel they could benefit. As previously mentioned, you are allocated a buddy on your first project and they will be there to support for as long as you want. I tend to get on with things without needing much support, but it's certainly there if you do feel you need it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • You are payed £500 for relocating to london and an £18,000 pro rata salary. This has more than covered my costs this year, and as I have been on out of town projects all my travel, accomodation, food and other expenses have been paid for, meaning I've had very few costs and leaving me with plenty of money to travel.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many events including monthly 'life@' events which take place for all employees on client site and, for me, have ranged from drinks to go-karting. There are many clubs and societies to get involved in and gym membership is subsidised. You get 3 paid charity days a year to go and help a worthy cause of your choice. Client events often take place and (for me) have included a Christmas party at Woburn Abbey. You will also be invited to all ACG events including the Christmas party which took place this year at the Tower of London.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The experience has been thoroughly enjoyable and really good for my CV. It has made the decision of what I want to do post-uni really easy and, provided I meet their requirements, I will definitely return to Accenture as a graduate.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Research the firm and make sure you have a genuine interest in the work we do. You will be here for 8 months of your gap-year.
