  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for motor insurance in direct line group. On a day to day basis I amend peoples car insurance for them giving them the best customer service I can. Whether that be a change of vehicle on their policy or adding on a driver

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • We are learning all about insurance so there is a lot to take in as it is very confusing but its also very good to learn about. We are developing on being more confident when selling rescue as well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my apprenticeship as I am with a team that have all started at the same time as myself and we all get on really well and with this have made friendships in the business.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Direct Line?
  • I feel very valued by direct line as we are one of the first apprentices for direct line. They treat their staff really well and always make sure that we are doing ok as a team and they dont just leave for us to fend for ourselves.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organised, the training went according to plan for 6 weeks and then we have had so much support and training even since coming out of training that its only looking up from here.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We have a lady that comes in and makes sure that all the insurance booklet is going well as it is quite difficult to take in. She provides workshops and will help anyone that is struggling on this.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get so much support from all managers as they really want personally and as a business for us to succeed in direct line group. They help us with any issues that we have and will always try to boost moral.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary that we get for being on an apprenticeship is really good and I am really grateful for it. Its very good to live on from the wage we get.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • They hold a lot of competitions and like to hold events for charities which I think a business needs to have. Hopefully the longer that we have been in direct line group the more opportunities we can have to take part in the charity events.

  • 9. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • Yes

  • I just think it is a really great place to work, you will make life long friends from working at direct line and you will always get the support that you need.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • Dont be worried to express who you are in an interview. Stand out compared to the others and work as a team. Working as a team is vital in direct line
