  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a work coach and I am responsible for overseeing a case load of job seekers aiding them with their job search, Universal Credit queries ect I reply to messages, see people accorning to my diary and control who i see and when i see them according to when i feel is appropriate.I have alot of responsibility in my role and see a vast variety of people on a daily basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot of new skills and learning styles from working here. I have attended alot of training courses so far, and plan on going on more. I have done e learning courses and will do some more. I have learned alot about myself and my learning styles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my prgoramme alot as I do not feel like an apprentice i have alot of responsibility and feel like one of the team.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Civil Service?
  • I do feel valued by HMRC but sometimes I do feel we may need some more contact through the fast track scheme.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Havent really heard much throughout the recruitment process. Also have not heard anything about the qualification side off my own back i have had to go out of my way to contact the externam provider

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • n/a Havent met them yet although we have exchanged a few emails and they do reply very quickly which is great.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recive alot of local support but sometimes feel more national support, emails and maybe even a alumni contact network would be nice to have in order to extend our contacts.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary is very good, sometimes though the fact I have wirtten apprenticeship work on top of my work role does make me feel we should have a little more support sometimes. Costs are reimbursed which is very good support.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Havent seen this yet, although it has been mentioned that this will start up again. There has been oppertunities with the Civil service to volunteer.

  • 9. Would you recommend Civil Service to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • HMRC Fast Track is a really great apprenticeship and put you right at the centre of everything, i am really enjoying this.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Civil Service?
  • I would say apply for it as soon as it opens, if you dont hear anything keep ringing/emailing until you get an answer. Put your everything into the assessment days and show what you are capable of.
