  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Reviewing complaints, then either advising the complainant that the ICE office cannot take them on due to no signposting to the office, or if there is a signposting to ICE, define the key elements of there complaint. I then contact the complainant to discuss this and see if they agree with the elements defined. I would then move this complaint into the investigation stage.

  • I have developed my customer service skills remarkably.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much, it is very enjoyable and gives a sense of achievement when you know you are helping someone an awful lot by escalating this complaint.

  • Very valued, the Civil service value there apprentices highly as the new era of civil servants.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The recruitment process was long and drawn out, however the structure is great, with a great opportunity to progress my academic background with the Level 4 qualification.

  • My training provider is always available to contact and will discuss any issues I have with my training.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Extreme amounts of support, they have a never ending patience. The support is great as it really makes you feel valued and 'wanted' by the office.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Very well. Definitely one of the highest paying apprenticeships.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I'm not 100% sure in the private sector, but there is always opportunities within the civil service to progress.

  • Yes

  • Great opportunity to kick start a long career with the UK government.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Civil Service?
  • Review the competencies and keep going other real life examples of time you will have used those competencies. These are vital when it comes to your interview.
