1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently I'm working in Dormant team. I'm taking over Lombard account responsibilities. It involves me in communicating with the team and our clients. I am often checking documents received from clients, participate in team huddles and meetings, help with other task. I also looking into a way to improve the process, while learning Apprentice course at the side.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learn a lot more about banking industry, I get first hand experience on a field. I am encouraged to learn new skills and use E-library and online courses. This apprenticeship gave me confidence in my abilities. I received feedback, and improved my presentation, communication and administration skills.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Because I switched teams every few months, I learn a lot more about different processes involved in Anti-Money Laundering process, I saw the different task that teams do to achieve the same goal. People at RBS are great, from the first minute I stepped in I felt welcomed and challenged to with important work.

4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?

I feel like a very important part of the team. I have my responsibilities, and voice in group decisions. I am encouraged to take ownership and lead the project. I'm given support and advice when I ask for it.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is a bit hard to say as my assessments just started. But So far so good. I am able to be flexible with my studies to suit it around the work I do. I get feedback on my work and I am able to improve it. However, sometimes it can take assessors some time to check your submissions.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

My BPP supervisor is great at keeping me on track and helping with tasks. In addition, she always look happy to help, and respond really quickly to my quarries.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager is happy to assist with anything. Also, provide me with flexible working, where I can work from home and focus on my apprenticeship course, then other 4 days I can work and improve in the workplace.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I am able to fully support myself. My work place has cycling facilities which I can use and travel to work every day by bicycle. Also, there is a canteen where I am able to have a nice meal for around £5. While RBS is quite far away from city centre, it benefits from easy access, beautiful surroundings.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Yes, RBS actively encourage people to do volunteering and other activities. Quite often we have a team out days, where we go bowling, go-carting etc. There are also loads of clubs and social committees to take part in.

It is a great place to work and develop yourself. There are a lot of opportunities as long as you are willing to go for them.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?

It is a great place to work and develop yourself. There are a lot of opportunities as long as you are willing to go for them. Don't try to be someone you are not. Be confident, be you. Bank is huge, and it has a lot of different customers. So we need that diversity to serve our customers well!
