  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Technology Apprentice - I had the opportunity to join the Voice Communications team for my 2 year apprenticeship, and it has developed my professional skills a great deal. My role includes maintaining the telephony system across EMEA and all of the products like conferencing, voice Recording and analytics tools that hang off the back of the telephony system.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My technical skills have developed well. I have been exposed to various environments and had training with Cisco, Speakerbus, BT and ITIL to progress my career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This is an excellent programme to start any career in IT. You gain an understanding of change management and risk within the business, and also develop a good level of technical understanding on the products you work on

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Nomura?
  • I feel valued at Nomura, doing the role that I am currently in. The team shares everything, and we help each other out with projects etc. so I am exposed to all of the environment.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From a Nomura perspective it was structured very well. However, the same cannot be said about the Training Provider JUST IT.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Not enough. As I said, Nomura we brilliant, but JUST IT cared more about you just passing and completing, they didn't invest their time in you, and share your interests.

  • Nomura have been excellent with regards to supporting my development thus far.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Exceedingly well

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Plenty of charity events to get involved with and work socials.

  • 9. Would you recommend Nomura to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • A great environment to start off in, and learn risk management and gain basic understanding of the platforms the IT department utilize.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nomura?
  • Bring something else apart from just grades.. Nomura want to invest in talent, and a person. Any personal interests such as sporting or creative hobbies, don't be afraid to highlight
