  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assistant accountant, daily tasks include posting purchase invoices, sales invoices and keeping the bank up to date. Also answering emails to both internal colleagues and external clients. I have many daily interactions both internally and externally as I need to communicate with both people in my office and clients via email or over the phone.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently working towards an AAT level 3 qualification with plans to carry this on next year to level 4. There are several internal online training courses that include fraud, modern slavery etc to make sure that we are kept up to date with legislation and that we are in the know about different topics that affect our working environment. I have also learnt many different things just from being involved in a team that has helped me develop both personally and professionally.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy all aspects of my job here. The work is challenging at times but there is always someone in the team that is willing to help you if you do not understand something. Everyone in the office is very nice even if you don't work with them on a regular basis they will always be friendly towards new people.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mazars LLP?
  • I feel very valued within the team. Managers and supervisors will not miss an opportunity to tell you that you have done a good job on something, and if something needs development then they are also there to help you. Also as I have been here longer I have taken on more work and more challenging tasks which shows that my manager believes I have the ability to complete the task.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When I started there was a big induction/training for all new recruits which was great, I knew I wasn't the only one who was nervous about starting the new job as I was talking and meeting people who were going through the same things I was which helped massively with the transition between college/school and the working world

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At the start of my apprenticeship I was paired with a mentor. They have been a huge help with any issues that I have had and have made sure that I am fitting in well with regular catch up sessions to see how I am doing.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is good. Even thought I don't live that far from the office. the money easily covers the costs of me traveling and living where I currently am. It also covers costs of traveling to London for both social and work events and also going to college once every two weeks.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities to get involved in charity work which I think is amazing. There are several different activities to get involved in so there is something for everyone. There are also many social events after work or sometimes even before work to network with other people which is nice

  • 9. Would you recommend Mazars LLP to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have really enjoyed my time here, and not for specific reasons. Mainly because everyone is so friendly and welcoming and willing to help you with whatever small problem you have, which means a lot to younger people for who this might be their first or second job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mazars LLP?
  • The first steps are an online questionnaire to fill out similar to a CV but more detailed. Then there are a few online tests maths and competency mainly. In the interview just be confident, if they read the information about you they already know what kind of person you are so just be yourself and you will be fine.
