I work in the Human Resources department within my company, on a day to day basis I do many different tasks ranging from Maternities, Paternities and Employee absences to producing documents for contractual changes.
I have learnt many new skills and developed many more since doing my Level 3 and now Level 4 apprenticeship, a few of which being timekeeping, organisation and how to present myself in a professional manor, through my image, my verbal communication and emails.
I very much enjoy my programme, I am glad that I did my level 3 apprenticeship first as it then gave me time to learn about my role as well as doing coursework before moving onto the higher level 4 which is a bit more challenging.
3M are a very good company to work for as they make you feel very valued. But more than this, you don't feel silly for asking questions and no-one treats you differently for being an apprentice.
My programme is very well structured, it has 2 parts to it all of which is explained out to you before you start as well as being organised so that you are aware of what you need to do.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider, they are fantastic and my assessor in particular is amazing at ensuring I have all the help I need to complete my work to a high standard.
My employer is a different company to 3M, I don't feel like we get a lot of support from them. However 3M have taken on this support role on behalf of my employers.
My salary package, although fantastic compared to the majority of other apprenticeships, doesn't meet my costs as I pay rent, my phone bill, my petrol and all running costs of my car each month, in addition to any luxuries such as new clothes, social outings and holidays.
There are plenty of opportunities to do many different things outside of work for instance sporting clubs such as football, touch rugby and netball as well as social events.
Yes
The reason for this being that I think 3M are a fantastic employer who value their employees very much and work hard to ensure that they are happy and well supported.
The biggest piece of advice I would give to someone applying to 3M would be to be yourself. This is a very friendly and warming place to begin your working life and has a very good mix between relaxed and professional.
