  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is 'Energy and softs Financial Settlements Analyst'. I have a back office role so I am client facing. My main day to day role is to agree settlements with clients. I am therefore in constant contact with clients via email or phone and also have lots of contact with other internal teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many skills during my apprenticeship. These include my communication, time management, problem solving to name a few. These have developed in my day to day role and have also been enhanced by certain courses available to us.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme a lot. It has provided me with a very solid foundation to build a career at a young age. It has developed my skills as an employee and also improved me as a person. I enjoy working the team I am in and they provide me with a lot of support and the whole culture of the firm is fantastic.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
  • I feel very valued at JP Morgan. I am given the same responsibilities as my colleagues and I am trusted in the workplace with everything I do. I receive recognition where it is deserved.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured. We are given more than enough time to stufy for our exams and we are supported throughout this. The schedule for exams was throughout as well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a good amount of support from our provider. For our exams, we had weekly lectures for a set period and then 1 to 1 sessions closer to exam time to help us. Also, we had monthly reviews with our skills coach to track our progress.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Similarly, I received a lot of support from my team/managers. For example, they allowed me time to study for my exams and offered support where needed. Also, they were more than happy for me to attend extra curricular activities where appropriate.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For an apprenticeship wage,our salary isn't bad at all! However, I feel it should be higher for the responsibilities we are given.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, I have been a part of many events outside of work including running a half marathon for charity. This is encouraged a lot at work.

  • 9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to join one of the biggest banks in the world. The support given to you is always high and the opportunities given to you are second to none.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • Be yourself. It is all well and good having the top grades but you need to have a good character. Try to relax through the process and be yourself. Also, take every opportunity that is given to you.
