1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently in a placement as a systems developer which will be where I stay after my apprenticeship finishes, I have completed 4 other placements within IT. There is no such thing as a typical day as every day is different and involves working with people from across the business to check their requirements have been filled.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained a Level 4 Diploma as well as a Level 4 NVQ as well as completing training courses which are open to all of my colleagues. since starting my apprenticeship I have increased my confidence and have become much better at presenting.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The apprenticeship programme is even better than I imagined it being, I have an amazing team who are supportive in my learning and have made me feel like a part of the team since day 1

4. How valued do you feel by Civil Service?

I feel like any other member of the civil service would feel, my manager is very supportive and has helped to organise events and experiences that I would have never experienced without her.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

my programme has been very structured, within the first few weeks of joining we were invited to an induction day which was informative and helped to find out what my apprenticeship would involve. I have also had the opportunity to have a mentor to help and guide me through my apprenticeship which has been really useful. We are given a certain amount of study time each week to complete any apprenticeship work and they have been very supportive in making sure this is given

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

The training providers can sometimes be difficult to contact due to other training but we will always get back to you with an answer. When asked a question or asked for support they will always pass it on to someone else if they cannot give you the guidance or answer needed

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been very supportive, I have had 2 different line managers but both of them and the teams that I have been part of have been supportive and have always made me feel like part of the team

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I think the Salary for a Civil Service apprenticeship is higher than all other Level 4 apprenticeships I have seen.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

As a Civil Service Apprentice there are opportunities to work with apprentices from all over the country to promote the scheme to potential future apprenticeships which is a brilliant idea as otherwise I wouldn't have found out about this amazing scheme

9. Would you recommend Civil Service to a friend?

9b. Why?

This Scheme gives apprentices opportunities they would not get from anywhere else as well as the support given by all members of teams and from trainers.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Civil Service?

Get the most out of every opportunity and make sure you volunteer for anything that you have the chance to, this will help you to gain even more experience. Don't let the word apprenticeship put you off applying this is an opportunity for all ages to be a part of a learning experiance
