  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • - The programme has a great focus on trainees acquiring new skills and developing a firm understanding of the financial markets and investment thesis. - Within the traineeship there is also a fantastic social element, whether this is spending an evening within the pub, or discussing current experiences/woes over a coffee with previous trainees or a newly acquired chum.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Schroders?
  • - At Schroders trainees are treated exactly the same as any other member or permanent staff, all staff are treated the same regardless of level. This develops a fantastic ethos around the building of everyone being on the same level and encourages internal networking as every is approachable, this is invaluable as a new entrant into the investment industry.

    10/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • - The programme is structured well, it allows trainees to be fully immersed within their role whilst taking advantage of training days and external seminars. Managers encourage trainees to attend external events to network and increase industry knowledge. - However, the traineeship could be excelled further by increasing the year and offering a rotational element to allow for trainees to be more rounded and versed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • - We receive a lot of support from our training provider and have access to a large bank of e-materials ahead of our exam. However, attending training events can sometimes be difficult as there is a limited amount of tickets, it can sometimes mimic trying to get tickets for a concert! As this is a training contract I feel all involved should have access to the training and not those who hit the button first.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • - Schroders are extremely supporting in developing a knowledgeable trainee, managers encouraging attendance to a wide range of events to develop a firm understanding of the industry. Networking is essential within the traineeship and this is echoed by all at Schroders and many people are happy to have a coffee and enlighten you on a new business area.

    10/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • - The salary is competitive for the traineeship when matches across how our industry peers are paid. However, the salary is not reflective of current standards and I do not believe it would allow one to comfortably live within London, especially when travel costs can be so high. The salary is also almost half of the Graduate salary which I feel is unjustified.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • - There are many opportunities outside of work for networking, however this is down to individuals seeking these and keeping up to date with industry on goings.

    7/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Schroders to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Schroders is a fantastic firm for promoting a healthy work/life balance, this included managers encouraging additional reading and working out within the onsite gym or within one of the sports teams. Schroders is also a leading name within Asset Management industry, allowing trainees to have a fantastic starting block and earning the large corporate stripes.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schroders?
  • - Within the application it is important to research Schroders on a wider level, looking into the day to day operations of the business but only on a deeper level and seeing what Schroders do on a wider scale such as our charities and fund raising efforts. - Once within the building I would encourage being as social as possible, speaking to all even if this is a simple 'good morning' within the lift.
