  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently I am in project management. Being a project manager involves managing projects and monitoring progress on contracts. Roles include producing financial forecasts, attending meetings, meeting with external suppliers and getting updates on projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout this role I have been able to enhance my skillset such as my presentation skills, communication skills. Also whilst studying at university I have been able to put my knowledge and understanding into practice whilst in the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working collaboratively with others in order to complete tasks. I enjoy working part of a team in a cohesive environment. The are a diverse range of sectors which we get to explore whilst on the scheme enabling us to increase are understanding about the business environment.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by MBDA?
  • I feel very appreciated by my colleagues and my manager. Staff are very supportive and willing to ensure you understand how to complete tasks and guide you along the right path.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured. When you commence the scheme a lot of time is allocated to training and induction enabling new starters to find their way and integrate into the company. We have a contact at our university who ensures that everything is running smoothly and answers any questions we have and is happy to support us.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our Training provider has organised several training events in order to help us integrate into the company. As apprentices our training provider organises an annual trip to Wales known as life skills which enables us to interact with other apprentices from other sites whilst also allowing us to enhance our skill set.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive. our HR representatives ensure that we are settled and are more than happy to help us if we have any problems or issues. Line Managers are very supportive both in terms of work life and study life. They ensure that we have a sufficient workload that enables us to reach our objectives. They are understanding of both our university placements and work placements and ensure that are workloads are not excessive and our flexible according to our hours.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary allows me to meet my living and travel costs and allows for some social expenditure.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are various opportunities outside of work to get involved in, ranging from sports and leisure clubs to corporate company events and activities. There are a range of charitable events to get involved in which allows employees the opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

  • Yes

  • It is a very supportive company with many new and exciting opportunities to offer, including developmental schemes such as training and career change options.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MBDA?
  • I would advise others to have an understanding of the sector and industry of the company before applying just to ensure they have some background knowledge of what the company carries out.
