  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a degree apprentice in the technology division at Goldman Sachs.My day-to-day work varies but each morning our team has a stand up meeting where we discuss what we did yesterday, what we plan to do today and any problems we may have on our current project. I then spend the rest of my day working on the current project either testing or writing code as well as networking.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt to code in Java in procedural and object-oriented programming. I have also developed soft skills such as presentation and networking skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy this programme. My team are very inclusive and supportive and are always there if I need any help or want to gain a better understanding of a particular topic.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Goldman Sachs?
  • I feel well valued by Goldman Sachs. I have seen first hand how the work I am producing is helping the developers in their role and this is very rewarding.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured. University provides us with a personal tutor and at work we have the support of buddies, mentors and managers as well as our team.

  • There is a good level of support.

  • The support received is fantastic. As well as being provided a buddy, manager and two mentors from the first day, everyone in my team and that I meet offer their assistance if needed·

  • Very well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The affinity networks that Goldman Sachs has are an excellent way to meet new people and learn more about a specific topic or gain an insight into something new. There isn't the time to be able to be part of any sports societies at university but more social societies are available from university if required.

  • Yes

  • There is a really inclusive environment at Goldman Sachs and the variety of work that provided is both interesting and educational.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs?
  • Just to make sure that you think you will enjoy this pathway into university and work as it is hard work but that challenging yourself is a good thing!
