  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Analyst Programmer - tasks within the job change daily as it depends on whether I am on project or not. If on project i will usually be part of a team and contributing code and ideas to that project as well as taking part in scrums. in-between projects I will either expand my knowledge on languages or take time to do apprenticeship work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • I feel very comfortable and valued at CGI as everyone is very friendly and if you encounter an issue you can always find someone to help out. my manager is lovely and she is very helpful in finding work suited to the person. When coming onto a project I feel as though people trust me with larger responsibilities even though I may not be as experience as some. overall CGI makes me feel very included and comfortable.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured in the sense that everything was given to us such as course timetables and assignments we also get a lot of support from our manager if needed. Task delegation has been fair as well as teams feeling more like a team than a hierarchy. We have been given a lot of time to complete assignments and given assistance if needed. overall i think it has been very organised on CGI's part.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Over the past few months our training provider has stepped up and we now have an assessor who comes in every 6 weeks who helps us keep track of assignments however before that the assessor we had didn't really keep in touch much or up to date so the programme was a little hard to follow. however other than that support and actual course tutors have been great.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Overall within CGI there are a lot of places to turn to for support and I feel that all of these areas such as my Manager, HR or other employees are as helpful as they can be with any issues and support needed and if for example they can't help they are all more than happy to point to someone who can.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • The application process if very fast and very good so keep on top of it also before any interviews prepare some questions and answers based around the overall IT industry and not focus on one section as well as your own capabilities. Be honest with your manager about what you want to do and where within the company you want to go.
