Technical engineer. Review

I currently work in a manufacturing facility through laing O'rouke, my current role is to work in quality control checking panels which are produced, my checks include depths of concrete, checking socket locations ect.. I am only responsible for checking production day to day and reporting production to office staff, I also take factory temperatures and complete different sorts of concrete testing.

I have learnt time management skills, quality control skills such as learning to be very precise, I have taken leant a lot about health and safety within a business, doing this course also involves taking a construction management degree therefore I have leant many construction related skills such as surveying, law in construction ect..

I very much enjoy who I work with and the factory that I am working in, I also enjoy my role however I am looking forward to changing roles eventually and trying something new within the factory.

As I have such an important role checking every panel I do feel very valued as some key issues may be missed on panels without me checking them.

My program is very well structured, working four times a week with one day release to university which breaks up the week and also gives me more knowledge on my roles I also have cadet modules which provide key information help me develop new skills.

I receive support whenever it is needed, with any work I am unsure about there will always be help given whenever possible, the staff in this factory have a very good attitude towards teaching people new skills.

I receive a lot of support from my employer, my employer and the HR team will always help with any issues and help with guidance. They also provide me with many modules and courses to help develop me as an employee.

I currently live at home with my parents however I will soon be moving and feel that I would be comfortable affording to move, there is also a possibility of a company car. current travel and social costs are met perfectly by the salary.

Yes there are many different events outside of work set up by laing |Orouke that can help you develop, the factory also sets up different little things like sports every week.

I feel the cadetship that I am currently in helps you develop as a person and gives you a great start to a career, providing you with great experience and further education as well.

I would say always dress smartly, be very prepared for your interview and have a basic knowledge on the company and the role that you are applying for, always attend any assessment days and be prompt.
