  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a new start, I am currently learning various programming tools. Being completely new to programming this is a completely new experience for me.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Having never done any coding or programming before, anything I have learnt is new skills. Although basic skills they are new skills I didn't have before.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far I have enjoyed the programme. As I only started in January I do not have much experience to comment on, but my time so far has been enjoyable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • The fact that CGI are taking time and money to train us and put us through university for the next four years makes me feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Again after only being here for over a month we are only are the beginning of our programme. So far the programme has been structured well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • After our two week boot camp at university, the University provided good support throughout the two weeks and before the course has began.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • For the amount of time I have been here, everyone in the company is very helpful and willing to support and help you. I believe this is down to the ethos of CGI.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Currently I have only received half of my pay due to our start date. This has left me a little short, but I believe after my first full pay it will meet my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, the ODSC has many social events and activities outwith work. Due to my inexperience I am unable to utilise the skills I have learnt so far.

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As a company they are very good to work for. The training and progression opportunities seem to be actively encouraged within the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • The advice I would give to others is to be prepared to work hard and you will receive the same in return. Be willing to help and ask for help when needed.
