  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role involves assisting the relationship managers in their banking activities. This can include admin work such as meeting bookings, meeting briefs, meeting agendas, shared relationship plans ect. I also go out with the managers on their customer meetings to help improve the service we offer. I also attend regular networking events.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new skills - how to use the banking systems and how to work with peoples accounts. I have also worked on my existing people and confidence skills by attending networking events and customer meetings.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot as I have learnt many new on the job skills that I can now take with my on my career path, and while doing this I have also been studying towards and achieved a qualification with BPP.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?
  • I feel very valued by RBS as I have been recognised for my hard work and received awards in regards to my work and the effort I put in. My manager has also informed me of how much of an asset I have been to the team since starting.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured, I have set times each month to attend regular webinars in regards to my coursework books. I also had webinars dedicated to helping me revise towards and pass my PBC exam.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive regular support from my training provider. AT the beginning of my apprenticeship this was not adequate and my assessor would not reply to my emails ect, but he then left the team and I was provider with a new assessor who was fantastic. I have mixed reviews in regards to the support I received over the duration of my apprenticeship, but it was made up for nearer the end of the course.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer. I have always had someone that I can go to and speak to if needed, and I have been assigned a working 'buddy' to help me with any day to day queries.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was very competitive for an apprenticeship, and I found this to go above my expectations for a salary at my age. This met all of my various costs for living/travel/social activities.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there are lots of opportunities, I have been involved in various networking events, one of which was the young professionals local group where we took part in activities like greyhound racing and go karting. There are also lots of volunteering opportunities and opportunities to present in various presentations internally and externally.

  • 9. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • If you are looking for a business to start working in that has lots of room for potential and growth, RBS is the place to start as the opportunities are endless - and include work in all sorts of different fields.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Make sure you read up on the company before you apply, and know the basic values of RBS and our core strategies. It also is a good idea to think of some examples that you can use for competencies as these will help you get far (interview wise).
