  • aircraft engineer apprentice, carry out tasks that have been given to me by my mentor or watch other engineers and how they would do a job.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • with this job i have basically learnt a whole new skill set and i have developed some hands on skills that i have learnt from college. My confidence has grown alot, and has made me a little cocky at times

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Im really enoying my time at thomson airways (TUI UK) it has set me up for life and given me oppitunites that i have never had. I wasnt expecting of how friendly everyone at the company is.

  • everyone within the company has made me feel really valued, i have been given oppitunitys that have given me moral boosts and that have made me work better in a team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my year has been the first structed year in years and it has been put together very well. i had a induction day to meet a few people within the company before i properly started working i knew at least 1 person. my training has been very good and i was very well looked after. studying is a big key in my success within the company and im allowed as much time to study. my mentor is very good and will always get me involved with jobs that are going on or he will give me my own jobs to do. within the company i understand that im right at the bottom of the company but i never feel like a i'am.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • i was sent to a training school to be taught all the baics of aircraft maintenance. while i was there i also sat all my CAT A liscence modules which have given me my first step to become a liscenced aircraft engineer. the company always gave me as much support as they could.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • we are payed alot more than other apprentices and i was very supprised at how much i was earning. i can easily live on my pay and i always have enough money to go out and buy things. but obvioulsy being young most of what i do have spare goes to going out with my mates.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • i have been given oppitunites to go on out of bounds courses and company events that happen. we also get corporate discount at lots of gyms which is always good.

  • 9. Would you recommend Thomson Airlines to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • i would recommend TUI UK (thomson airways) to a friend because it will set your career up for life and you meet alot of new people. But the main reason i would recommend them is that its FUN and there is never a dull moment and you are always learning something.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Thomson Airlines?
  • make sure that you are able to study hard, have a knowledge of the company and how it works to have had some experiance with hand skills before to be able to get along with other people
